Hearing Aids

If you or a loved one has been ignoring a hearing loss because of denial or embarrassment ASK YOUR DOCTOR about BASELINE AUDIOLOGICAL TESTING. The evaluation is simple, non-invasive and takes about one half hour to complete.

Audiological testing is strongly advised to be included as part of WELLNESS and HEALTH EVALUATIONS.

If hearing aids are recommended, you will be glad to know that the technology systems have improved MARKEDLY over the years to offer more discreet, comfortable and effective options.

Today’s hearing systems are available in a variety of styles and sizes. Your audiologist will recommend optimal technologies to improve residual hearing and understanding abilities with maximum comfort. The patient’s age, lifestyle, personal preferences and budget are also carefully considered when choosing hearing aid products and accessories.

Hearing Aid Styles

A patient’s ear anatomy and degree of hearing loss play an important role when selecting a hearing aid style and size. In addition, a patient’s cosmetic preferences also need to be strongly considered when choosing an amplification device.

There are a variety of hearing aid styles and manufactures available to the consumer. Each type of hearing aid style and technology is designed and fitted to address an individual’s needs and preferences.

There are 4 basic hearing aid styles available with varying technology options:

  • Deep Insertion Custom fitted or Disposable products are custom and non-custom fitted instruments that are inserted deeper into the canal than other styles, hence completely invisible to others when worn.
  • Completely-In-the-Canal Custom products are made to fit inside the canal and can be virtually invisible to others.
  • In-the-Ear Custom products are made to fit in the ear canal or outer ear. The visible portion of these products can be matched to skin tone.
  • Behind-the-Ear products are available in a variety of mini sizes and technologies. The computer portion of this fitting choice fits over the ear. The piece inserted in the canal area can be made of a small plastic tube, thin tube or wired receiver. This particular style can be highly cosmetically appealing and pleasing when properly fitted.
